Samoa Ports Authority – Your Gateway To Prosperity
Samoa successfully hosted the 3rd International United Nations Conference on Small Island Developing States (UNSIDS) from the 1st – to the 4th September 2014 in Apia. The over arching theme of the Conference is ” The Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States through genuine and durable partnerships”
Samoa Ports Authority (SPA) in preparation for this important historical Conference up graded its main port facilities and services as well as decorations to reflect the hospitality of the Samoan people.
The main international wharf at Matautu – tai has been reorganized to host the Cruise ship, P&O Pacific Jewel at berth for nine (9) days to accommodate more than 800 delegates plus 700 crew. The port however remained opened during UNSIDS where extra berth was utilized to facilitate international trade, shipping needs and ensuring SPA services are maintained in an efficient and effective manner. SPA has successfully provided for Pacific Jewel and meeting needs of port users and thus enhancing its motto as the “Gateway to Prosperity”.
